  1. Thomas Christel:

I just returned home from Web 2.0- Berlin, a four day conference and expo. I was really impressed by the turnout, over 500 participants and only 30% from within Germany. The content of the conference had a mixed review, a lot of the same stuff from the O’Riley Group’s friends and family. But when they turned the sessions over to European Speakers you found some really innovative ideas and successes hitting, for example, Stardoll.com and Zilo.com. I hope in the future we could act more 2.0 within the conference itself with more transparency, collaboration, and social networking. It would have been exciting to hear from other start-ups all over Europe, for example. As always it is very impressive to hear what the big boys are doing: Nokia, Amazon, Mozilla and Microsoft. But what about the average professional in the trenches wrestling with the volume of Web 2.0 information, tools and technologies. He is still searching for the real-value and benefits and thinking he will never eat another paper sack lunch again for as long as he lives….
